Le premier épisode est lancé ! Et le premier d’une longue série puisqu’elle va regrouper tout le road trip pour lequel ma meilleure copine et moi-même nous nous sommes envolées direction la côte ouest des Etats Unis en Août 2016 ! Et pour la première étape, c’était San Francisco !

Pour ceux qui l’auraient manqué, je vous explique tout juste ici concernant la nouvelle catégorie « Voyages » qui s’est créée sur le blog 

The first episode is live ! And the first of a big serie because I will share with you my entire West Coast summer road trip we did my best friend and I during August 2016. And the first stop was San Francisco !

San Francisco DAY 1 

Juste après notre arrivée à l’auberge de jeunesse en début d’après-midi heure locale, nous nous sommes empressées d’aller découvrir la ville. On a donc pris le bus vers le quartier de Haight-Ashbury pour voir les typiques maison victoriennes très colorées. Puis on est allées se balader dans le quartier d’Union Square et ses nombreuses boutiques.

Right after our arrival at the Hostel early in the afternoon, we went straight outside to discover the city. We took a bus for Haight-Ashbury to see the famous and typical Victorian Houses quite colorful. On our way back, we hang out in Union Square and did windows shopping.

San Francisco DAY 2 

On prend la route pour Telegraph Hill et on arrive au niveau de la Lombard Street et son morceau le plus connu : la rue la plus sinueuse des Etats-Unis. Puis direction Filbert Street, une autres des rues aux multiples records puisqu’il s’agit d’une des plus pentues de la ville et à son sommet, la Coit Tower et sa magnifique vue à 360°. Puis on re-descend la colline avec les Filbert Steps, des marches en bois très nombreuses qui permettent d’arriver pas très loin du port.

We took a bus to Telegraph Hill and climb a part of  the Lombard Street to arrive at its most famous point, claimed to be « the crookedest street in the world » with its 8 hairpin turns. Then we walk towards Filbert Street, another famous street because it is one of the most sloping of the States. Then, after discovering the wonderful view at the Coit Tower, we took the Filbert Steps, a pedestrian stairway that leads near the Fisherman’s Wharf.

Ensuite direction le quartier portuaire : Fisherman’s Warf. On découvre la Pier 39 (la plus connue), une jetée très touristique et au bout de laquelle on a pu voir une trentaine de phoques sur un fond de Golden Gate tout embrumé. On continue ensuite notre chemin vers la Pier 45 où sont stationnés un vieux sous-marin et un navire militaire. De là, on a pu voir la célèbre prison d’Alcatraz.

Then en route to the Fisherman’s Wharf. We walked on Pier 39 (the most famous and touristic one), where we had the chance to see the famous seals of San Francisco with the foggy Golden Gate in the background. We continued our discovery with the Pier 45 where are « parked » an old submarine and an old Navy Ship. From there, we saw the famous Alcatraz island and its prison.

Tout au bout du quartier du port, on décide de faire les vrai touristes en prenant le câble car. On a même pu le prendre jusqu’à son terminus : Union Square puisque notre Auberge était à 4-5 blocs de là. Ensuite direction Chinatown et ses rues colorées, on se croirait en pleine ville chinoise. On passe à peine la porte du dragon (entrée principale) qu’on se sent transportée sur un autre continent.

At the end of the Fisherman’s Wharf, we decided to take the Cable Car (as the perfect SF tourists !). We took it until the end of the line, Union Square) because our Hostel was 4-5 blocks away. On our way up, we decided to do a little « detour » to Chinatown and its colorful and well-decorated streets. Right after passing the dragon’s door, it’s like we were on another continent ! 

San Francisco DAY 3

Journée sportive ! On commence par aller voir les Painted Ladies (toujours en bus), sous la pluie malheureusement. On saute ensuite dans un autre bus qui nous emmène à l’entrée du Golden Gate Park. Le parc de la ville qui est plus grand qu’il n’y parait. Après une bonne heure de traversée, on arrive à Ocean Beach puis à Bakers Beach d’où on a un magnifique point de vue sur le Golden Gate (Enfin !). On décide de se lancer dans le trail qui part de la plage et qui va jusqu’à l’entrée du pont, le tout en marchant au bord des falaises qui longent l’océan. Un souvenir inoubliable !

Evidemment, on était obligée d’y poser nos pieds si déjà on y était arrivées ! Donc, demi-traversée du pont à pieds avec un temps coupé en deux : d’un côté du pont il y faisait grand ciel bleu et de l’autre, du brouillard. Le cadre était vraiment exceptionnel !

This day was a sporty day ! We began with the Painted Ladies (after a 10-15 minutes bus drive), with a really bad rainy weather. Then we jumped in another bus that took us to the Golden Gate Park entry, btw it’s a park which is biggest than it seems on a map ! After a 1 hour walk into the park, we finally saw the end of it with the beginning of Ocean Beach and our first real meeting with the Pacific Ocean. Then we went to Bakers Beach and its perfect view of the Golden Gate. We decided then to start a trail from the Beach to the « entry » of the bridge while walking near the edge of the cliffs stepping into the ocean : a perfect memory ! 

Then, obviously, when we arrived at the beginning of the bridge, we had to step on it ! So we went halfway onto the bridge. The Sky was spectacular : one side was foggy and the other side was blue sky all the way.

San Francisco DAY 4 

Ce jour-là c’était découverte de Castro : un quartier gay très animé, très coloré et mondialement connu. Les passages piétons sont des couleurs de l’arc-en-ciel ! Ensuite, direction le quartier de Mission pour enfin trouver l’endroit que l’on cherchait, au détour d’une rue : une petite allée pleine de fresques très colorées et aux messages très forts. On fait ensuite un passage à Billy Goat Hill pour une vue dégagée sur la ville et ses collines.

Dernière étape de la journée : aller boire un cocktail entre filles au Top of The Mark, un bar très huppé situé au dernier étage de l’hotel, pour une vue parfaite sur le Golden Gate embrumé. Un bon moyen de terminer notre dernière soirée à San Francisco !

This day, it was Castro discovery : one of the most gay neighborhood of the world. Really colorful and festive ! The crossroads are in the colors of the rainbow, (I really loved it !). Then we went to Mission, another neighborhood where we wanted to see something special : a small street with wall paintings and strong messages. Another bus drive later, we climb the Billy Goat Hill to see a 360° view of the city. 

And for our last activity of the day, we went to The Top Of The Mark, a really classy bar on the last floor of a really classe hotel. It has a perfect view on the foggy Golden Gate and classy cocktails, a perfect way to end our last day in San Francisco !
