#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

Aujourd'hui je viens vous parler d'un livre qui, à première vue, n'est pas forcément considéré comme faisant partie de la catégorie " développement personnel " mais dont beaucoup parlent comme une " base ", un " livre accessible ", " facile à lire ", etc... Bref, de nombreux compliments qui m'ont donné envie de m'intéresser un peu plus à #Girlboss, l'ouvrage écrit par une PDG d'une énorme entreprise de mode vintage et de sa vision du développement perso ou en tous cas du conseil à la personne.

Some people talk about this books as a personal development / self-help kind of book. So I've wondered how could a badass CEO talk to us about personal development through her book. So here I am presenting it to you for this review !

Even if this book has a lot of positive critiques and that the history and path of the author are quite exceptional and inspiring, I think it is quite reductive on the personal development way and really focused on the creation of Nasty Gal business. Even quite simple on personal and professional advice.

Bien que ce livre ait des critiques positives et que le parcours de cette femme soit exceptionnel et assez inspirant, je le trouve assez réducteur et, à mon avis, bien trop centré sur le récit de la création du business de l'auteur et bien maigre en conseils personnels ou même professionnels.

J'ai beaucoup apprécié le chapitre 5 traitant du sujet de l'épargne, de conseils pour penser à ne pas faire partir en fumée tout ce pour quoi vous travaillez dur. Tout comme le chapitre 8 qui donne à la fois des conseils pour les futurs employés comme les futurs employeurs. De nombreux conseils sont présents dans ce chapitre surtout pour ceux souhaitant réaliser leur rêve et monter leur boite. Néanmoins, tous ces conseils auraient pu, selon moi, être bien plus développés et avoir une plus grande part dans le chapitre. Ce qui aurait été bien plus intéressant surtout quant à la connaissance et le vécu de Sophia Amoruso !

I really liked the chapter 5 (about savings, how to not crash your brand new business with spending even cent you make during the first year) and also chapter 8 which gives a real talk about hiring, firing and stay employed. Quite good advice for employees as for employers ! These chapters are full of pieces of advice but, they are not developed enough for me and some of them could really have their own chapter ! Too bad because it's there that the story and events of the author's life could have really help us find our way.

Mais on est souvent embarqués dans la vie de l'auteur ce qui rend l'ouvrage bien plus proche d'une autobiographie que d'un livre de développement personnel. Néanmoins, le contenu reste intéressant, frais et assez dynamique. Il est facile de se retrouver dans la vie de l'auteure et le fait de suivre son parcours à travers le livre est un voyage assez sympathique.

But we are quite often dragged into the author's life-story and business-story which makes the book more biographical than on the personal development category. However, the content is interesting, refreshing and dynamic. It's easy to fall into her story and even put ourselves into her shoes while reading her adventures.

Chaque chapitre commence par une citation, une illustration et presque tous se terminent par un entretien avec une personne tout aussi inspirante que l'auteur, majoritairement des femmes ayant réussi à devenir des Girl Boss. Ces entretiens sont une très bonne idée mais leur nombre fait que parfois, j'ai eu l'impression qu'ils me " stoppaient " dans ma lecture, créaient des arrêts dans ma lecture fluide.

Each chapter begins with a quote, a drawing and a black page. And most of the chapters end with an interview with #Girlboss -es people and how they see their careers and how they embrace their #girlboss way of life.This idea is great because you don't just read the author's point of view but a lot of (mostly women) story but they are quite numerous in the book and I felt like they stopped me while reading as they marked the end of chapters. I felt disturbed during my reading of a few chapters.
